Conservation

We Do Conservation

Specific skills have been developed in the completion of conservation and restoration projects with a good knowledge of the grant schemes that apply to such work. Considerable experience has been built up in the restoration of older properties and specifically listed buildings.

Attention to detail in the design process, allied to the provision of a high level of on-site supervision ensures that refurbishment schemes are successfully implemented. The practice also has conservation accreditation from the RIAS.

The restoration work undertaken by the practice varies greatly. Works completed range from smaller schemes including the installation of astragals on windows, installation of gates and railings etc, to larger projects where entire stone facades and leadwork roofs have been replaced.

When dealing with the restoration of a listed building, listed building consent is often required, which is something the practice deals with on a regular basis. We also have a good working relationship with the Listed Building Section of the local Planning Department, who we can consult for advice on proposed conservation projects.
